Nortey beat Ole in Seniors Tennis
Accra, Nov. 24, GNA--Henry Nortey started this year''s Ghana Tennis Association Seniors Open Championship on a bright note when he defeated Jensen Ole 6-1, 6-0 in their opening match at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club Courts on Thursday.

Nortey, who thrilled the crowd with some dangerous services, declared his intention of winning the competition. Ole on the other hand, assured his fans of making amends in his next match.

In the other matches, Raymond Owu beat Daniel Nortey 6-2, 7-6, Abdul Karim Dowuona emerged winner in his match against Nii Botchwey by beating him 6-1, 6-1, while Theophilus Atise won 6-1, 6-1 against Alex Dorsel.

About 100 players are taking part in the competition, which is under the patronage of Sheikh I.C. Quaye, Greater Accra Regional Minister.

It is being jointly sponsored by State Insurancne Company of Ghana Limited, Unique Trust Financial Services, Apstar Airlines and the Greater Accra Regional Administration. Mr Peter Annang, the Tournament Director, was happy about the patronage as compared to last year''s competition and expressed the hope that the competition would be clean and a deserving champion would emerge.
