Miss World Odds Released

Ghana beauty a long shot at 250-1
NEW YORK, Nov. 23 - Sportsbook.com has released odds on who will win the 55th Miss World competition which will be held live from China on December 9, 2005.

Lamisi Mbillah, Miss Ghana, is a 250-1 long shot as she attempts to bring the Miss World crown to Ghana for the first time.

The early odds makers'' favorites are Miss Italy, Sofia Bruscoli, and Miss Philippines, Carlene Aguillar. Both women stand at 12-1 odds followed by Miss Canada, Ramona Rina Amiri, and Miss England, Hamassa Kohistani, both with 15-1 odds to capture the crown

Of the favorites only England can claim to have previous winners while Italy, Philippines and Canada all seek their first Miss World crown. A win for Miss Canada would be a historic achievement given that Toronto''s Natalie Glebova was crowned Miss Universe on May 30 of this year.

"The Miss World contest is in its 55th year and continues to be one of the most prestigious and watched television programs around the world," says Alex Czajkowski, Marketing Director, Sportsbook.com. "Everybody loves to bet and these pageants are a real attraction. They are exciting and unpredictable; people really get drawn in by their national ties."

Other favorites for the crown include the representatives from Norway (18-1), Costa Rica (22-1), Puerto Rico (22-1) and Mexico (25-1). The contestant from the American Virgin Islands is listed at 60-1. Last year''s winner was from Peru and this year''s representative from the South American country could be in the mix as well at 30-1 odds. In the history of the event two nations have produced more Miss World winners than any other - India and Venezuela with five a piece. Miss India is a 30-1 bet this year with Miss Venezuela at 40-1.

Below are odds on all contestants. For more information, please visit www.sportsbook.com.
