Tuobodom Chiefs, People Demand Apology From Minister 8/29/2005
The chiefs and people of Tuobodom have called on the Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister Nana Kwadwo Seinti and Music Association of Ghana (MUSIGA) to render an unqualified apology to the people of Tuobodom.

Nana Owusu Ankomah-Tenten II, Nifahene of Tuobodom made the call in a press release issued at Tuobodom in the Techiman Municipality. Nana Ankomah-Tenten said the actions of the Regional Minister and MUSIGA smack of contempt for the people of Tuobodom.

He said the people do not understand why Nana Seinti and MUSIGA national executives decided to launch an album, which was supposed to nullify the controversial "Yefri Tuobodom" and use the proceeds to put up a project for the people of Tuobodom.

"Is MUSIGA and the Regional Minister telling us that all towns in the regions of Ghana needed to be mocked before they get projects or want the said projects to be a monument to remind us of the humiliation of the song,"? Nana Ankomah-Tenten queried.

He said the Regional Minister was the first to spark off fire by refusing to meet the chiefs of Tuobodom, claiming there was chieftaincy dispute in the area. Nana Ankomah-Tenten indicated that Nana Seinti as a former chief should have known better that, even if a town has no chief there are, sub-chiefs and assembly members to be recognized.

He said the Regional Minister deliberately decided to attend the meeting between MUSIGA and elders of the town, including Tuobodomhene, yet preferred to launch an album to counter Nkasei''s controversial music.

The chief said, Nana Seinti is not a custodian of Tuobodom chieftaincy system and that the people of Tuobodom would also refuse to recognize him as the Regional Minister since this was the second time he had knocked the heads of the people against one another.

On MUSIGA, Nana Ankomah-Tenten said the recent behaviour of Nana Seinti and MUSIGA by way of intending to launch a new album "YEKROM" had added more insults to injury in whatever reconciliatory move the chiefs were undertaking to smoke a peace pipe with Nkasei in particular and MUSIGA in general.

He warned that if no solution is found to the mockery and humiliation brought to the people of Tuobodom by Nkasei''s "Yefri Tuobodom" album, then the people of the area would advise themselves.

Nana Ankomah-Tenten further appealed to the government to solve the present impasse between the people of Tuobodom and Nkasei like it did last year when tension mounted between Ashantis and Akims over newspaper publications and counter publications as to which of the ethnic groups is superior over the other.
