New police officers to do national service in the north
Wa, Nov 07, GNA - New officers who pass out from the National Police College will now do a mandatory three-month service in the three northern regions before they are given their stations.

This is intended to expose such officers to the different aspects of life of the people of the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions. Mr Patrick Acheampong, the Inspector General Police, said this when he addressed officers and men of the Upper West Regional Police Command as part of his four-day working visit to the region.

He said knowing the culture and way of life of a people would enhance their role as peace officers and urged all officers to endeavour to learn the culture of the people in the areas they serve. The IGP paid courtesy calls on Mr Ambrose Dery, the Upper West Regional Minister, and the Wana Yakubu Seidu Soalia.
